The Horace Smith Fund - Established 1899

Walter S. Barr College Scholarships

Barr Scholarships are also available to students currently attending college. Second and third year students often require a greater degree of financial assistance than do first year students. Therefore, the Fund offers scholarships to college students resident in Hampden County (MA) who are graduates of Hampden County secondary schools.

APPLICATIONS ARE AVAILABLE IN THREE FORMATS:

  • After September 15th, hard copy forms are available at the Horace Smith Fund office, at all Hampden County high school guidance offices, and at the financial aid offices of several local colleges.
  • An application may be downloaded and printed using the link below. It can be completed and mailed or delivered to the Horace Smith Fund office.
  • An application is accessible online and can be completed and filed electronically using the link below. If this method is used, e-mail addresses for the following will be required:
    1. The person(s) responsible for completing the parents' financial statement.
